Is this pessimism or am I valid?

I don't know if I'm just a pessimist but I get so annoyed by companies trying to appeal to a playerbase or a userbase. The two main examples I can think of are Everskies and Duolingo.

I always think "you'll never be like me" but I'm unsure if that's a crazy mindset.

Like, it's the official Everskies account too acting all buddy buddy with the userbase like...

I understand being there to allow users to criticize but... Everskies doesn't really do that (from my knowledge).

I feel like companies are following that Duolingo route as of late* that worked wonders for them (well... until the decision to include AI in the language learning process... once done by humans).

*Okay, okay... I know Wendy's technically was the pioneer species of companies doing this but Duolingo (to me) made it far more prominent.

Slightly off topic but what the fuck was that Duolingo lore anyway? Like why did he get killed off??

(Also... further off topic but why is there a Duolingo anime... I'm still not getting over that...)

I'm not saying companies should completely ignore the userbase (though they do anyway) but acting like we are best friends is also annoying.

I'd like a bit of balance.
