Another Interesting Research Project (surprising? maybe.)

Okay... I mentioned my APAAS project so I won't mention her again (yet). This time, I'm focusing on my English research project.

(Unfortunately*) We were given a list of like ~100 prompts to choose from to which I chose "Representation in Media"

*I say unfortunately only because I had an idea of talking about critical race theory but I'm unsure if it would align with any of the topics that were given.

Anyways, I was originally struggling a bit with what I wanted to truly write about. All I really knew is that I wanted to somehow incorporate Black or African American people.

Then... BOOM! A stroke of genius (lol).

I remembered in the beginning of the year in APAAS, my teacher showed us a video of the difference in how the media represented black protests and white riots (usually describing them in ways that would make you assume the opposite).

I thought it would be a really good topic because not only is it something I am interested in, but it is easy to tie in with that whole idea of "representation within the media".

*My Research Question: Does the media portray black protesters differently than white rioters?

I'm not really sure what I'm trying to convey by writing this other than that when I find something I'm interested in, it's kind of fun to write an essay about it (the only thing I'm not excited for is the presenting part of it though).

I have experienced this in previous years, but it is becoming more apparent this year.

So... yeah. Who knew an English project could actually make me say something good about ultimately writing an essay?

Definitely not me.
