[forever unfinished] To Understand, To Be Understood, and To Feel Complete

Was going to post this but then I decided to keep it in the drafts... until now! It's not completed and I probably will never complete it...

Senpai wa Otokonoko is peak though please watch it

Hi. I'm posting my review of Senpai wa Otokonoko here because I'm lowkey scared of AniList.

Before I start yapping crazy about the main three characters, I want to point out the artstyle and especially the scenery. It is top notch.

There are scenes with gorgeous lighting as well as scenes that portray the perfect emotion--- whether love or sadness or confusion---it's all there, represented so well.

Okay, now I want to get into the actual meat and potatoes of this anime: the characters.

(I'm not going to lie, there will probably be spoilers form here on out.)

CHAPTER 1: TO UNDERSTAND (Taiga Ryuji)

With Ryuji, we see the experience of someone trying to understand who he is. In the beginning, Saki was more overt with her feelings for Makoto but his feelings were often more covert, internal. More than anything, his character has shown me just how much he wants to understand the situation he's in. He wants to know what this feeling he has for Makoto is as well as if it's even deemed 'acceptable'.

His goal of trying to understand everything going on, including himself, has at times put him in situations where he isolates himself from Makoto as he is unsure of what he [Makoto] truly wants.

Based on the end, it does sort of seem as if Ryuji and Makoto's relationship remained as being friends---which makes sense because Makoto reveals himself that he doesn't know what he wants but he wants Ryuji to be happy.

His character is so complex and he also shows great character development as the anime progressed. He turns from someone unsure if being with, let alone thinking about another guy in the way he does, is normal to telling Saotome that nothing should forbid him from loving (in Saotome's case, Hayase).

CHAPTER 2: TO BE UNDERSTOOD (Haneoka Makoto)

Now we're going to the anime's main focus: Makoto. I find his backstory to be especially interesting.
