protests on games.
i was watching a video (which admittedly I haven't finished yet) talking about the protest against EA.
to this i say: why now? and do you truly believe what you're preaching?
for context, sims 4 creators went to EA games hq in order to protest but the protest feels shallow. they were dressing up as sims with the red plumbob in addition to other things.
the way they went about this really reminded me of everskies "boycotts".
the reason FOR the boycotts are actually reasonable: people getting banned for talking about pedophila and everskies hiding it -> people speak out and want to boycott OR something less miniscule but still important to users.
people preach for protests and boycotts on everskies and i personally feel like that is important, especially for a smaller game like it.
however, people seem to go against their word. boycotts typically preach against giving anything financial to said company. however, people still by starpass... or stars... or those fuckass limited time sets.
so to me, the boycott falls flat the second people start buying stuff as if there wasn't talk of a boycott/protest moments before.
i often question the reason people even want to boycott something. is it truly to ensure the game or whatever you like changes for the better or is it solely to claim your doing a service for everyone else.
i'd like to propose that question to anyone protesting/boycotting games. do you truly care about the message of the protest/boycott? is your heart truly set in making something better/changing something that had been revealed? or do you only want to make yourself look better for the fans/followers/friends that you have?
maybe it's because i've never made friends on people on everskies---i've had people that like the avatars i've made but nothing more---but i can't understand the idea of going back on your supposed integrity.
